Trajectories: New Drawing Embodiments #01 

Performance Night on Drawing and Choreography

The exhibition series “Trajectories: New Drawing Embodiments #01”, conceived and curated by artist Nicole Wendel and art historian Jan-Philipp Frühsorge will examine the performative and procedural potential of drawing and open up towards new interpretations through the live moment. Three international artists Nikolaus Gansterer, Stella Geppert and Nicole Wendel will develop and perform interdisciplinary drawing performances in cooperation with choreographers, dancers and musicians, investigating the aspect of drawing as a form of action. The main focus will be on the ephemeral, the procedural as well as the improvised, all-inherent in drawing. Within its investigation each artistic position concentrates on a different aspect, thereby allowing viewers to appreciate the full scope of the three proposed formats, offering an overview of current graphic-performative strategies. These encounters between drawing and choreography are conceived so as to facilitate new interpretations of former assumptions on drawing and the way drawings are commonly read. They wish to pave the way to yet unknown forms of graphic notation as well as to provoke a broadening of each artist’s own repertoire. Jan-Philipp Frühsorge and Dr. Maren Butte will reflect on the phenomenon of the ephemeral in artistic processes. Philosopher Dr. Francesca Raimondi will host the talk.
